According to gypsy lore, Beau’s first spoken word was “Why?” followed closely by “Huh?” These inquisitive first words foreshadowed Beau’s career in advertising. Today, he searches for the inherent truth buried in every client product or service which makes it appealing to a large group of profitable perfect customers.

Beau started his career in the mailroom. Well … that’s not entirely true. But he did have to walk past the mailroom every day to reach his cubicle. In fact, he spent the first 12 years of his career sitting near the mailroom but in ever-larger cubicles and, later, offices while working at Dancer Fitzgerald Sample, which became Saatchi & Saatchi. After 18 years, he left to become President of Pagano Schenck & Kay, followed by co-founder and Managing Director of MindFull and, later Managing Director of Korey Kay & Partners.

Since 2005, Beau has been President of The Gate/New York, running the business and overseeing both the account and strategy departments. In this later capacity, Beau is responsible for conceiving or writing most of our clients brand propositions or positioning statements. In addition to running the New York office, Beau sits on the U.S. and International Boards of Directors.

He also sits on the industry self-policing board, the NARB; the National Advertising Review Board.

When Beau is not sitting, he’s speaking, frequently, at marketing and advertising conferences. To our astonishment, he has been asked back for an encore presentation by all of them.

Finally, Beau is co-author along with fellow Gater David Bernstein of Death to All Sacred Cows, published by Hyperion Books, a division of Disney. Death to All Sacred Cows has been translated into eight languages. Go figure.

Born in Goteborg, Sweden, raised in Manhattan, schooled in the Midwest (Lake Forest College), and currently a native of New York City, Beau spends his weekends restoring an 1840s-era farmhouse.
